Song Trends. My Throwback Wedding.

Whilst out with my Mum in Canterbury last week I heard Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer and was swept back to 1997. I looked up violin covers of the song when I got home and came across the fabulous album by The Vitamin String Quartet entitled ‘My Flashback Wedding’. It ocurred to me that young couples getting engaged in 2023 grew up with the songs that I was listening to as a teenager and young adult via their parents.

I already have quite a few songs in my repertoire from the 80s and 90s but am always happy to learn some more. At a wedding fair last Sunday I tried out some 90s love song classics which I have in my repertoire and they went down really well. Head Over Heels by Tears For Fears is a personal favourite. Also the covers of Without You and Words by Mariah Carey and Boyzone are very emotive.

What songs have stayed with you from your childhood and make you feel all fuzzy inside? Something by The Beatles and You Can Close Your Eyes by James Taylor & Carly Simon do it for me.

Which songs from the 80s and 90s would you like me to add to my repertoire?

Wedding Fairs Early 2023

Congratulations and best wishes to all of you who have just got engaged over the Christmas and New Year celebrations. I am exhibiting at eight more fairs in Kent and East Sussex over the next couple of months. Come and say hello and chat to me about the music that you love. Ask me if I have the piece that you would like at your wedding and I can play it for you. Your own personal recital. I will have repertoire lists on display and pricing for the packages which I can offer you for your wedding day music. I have some dates left for 2023 and am taking bookings for 2024 and 2025. See you there.

Wedding Fairs this Autumn

If you are planning a wedding for next year or even 2024/2025 do come and have a chat and a listen to me play at one of the following events. I thoroughly enjoy the planning stage. It is as important to me as the performance I give on your wedding day. I will have with me my repertoire to choose from so I can play requests for you. There will be reviews from weddings and functions available to read, photographs to view. Most importantly I can provide you with what I can offer you. There are two ‘off the shelf’ packages to choose from but am also happy to plan and quote for bespoke weddings. Not all weddings fit the ‘Ceremony or Reception’ package. Also if what you would like me to play isn’t already listed in my repertoire I am happy to learn new. I look forward to meeting you. Best wishes, Abigail

Doorstep Recitals

Last May I did my first socially distanced Doorstep Recital for a lovely lady’s birthday in Hastings. It was such a wonderful experience bringing music to her door at a time when live music was almost impossible.

TESTIMONIAL

To celebrate the anniversary of my first Doorstep Recital I would like to offer 30 minute recitals at £75 throughout the whole of May.

Please contact me for further details.
